What are the addresses of the Incoming and Outgoing Mail servers?

Incoming Settings (SSL Preferred):
Account Type: POP3 or IMAP
Server: mail.swiftel.net
Encryption: SSL(Preferred) or (None)
Port: POP3 995(110) or IMAP 993(143)
Authentication: Username
Outgoing Settings
Server: smtp.swiftel.net

Port(Encryption): 465(SSL) or 587(TLS)
Authentication: Username

Can I check my email when I’m not at home? Yes, if you have a laptop you will be able to download your messages using Outlook or other email clients as long as you have a connection to the Internet. However, if you want to send email using your Swiftel email account you will have to send it through the Swiftel webmail or have your email client configured with outbound authentication and Encryption.

How do I check my email on the web (webmail)? Use the following link https://webmail.swiftel.net and login with your username (you must include the @swiftel.net or @brookings.net) and password.

How can I stop all this junk mail? The spam filter is enabled for all Swiftel customers. Once logged in to webmail click on the “Junk/Spam Quarantine” link in the menu bar. It is a good idea to visit this page occasionally to make sure that the spam filter hasn’t blocked any of the emails you want to receive.

Preview Pane: This will allow you to see a preview of the message before you release, delete, or ignore it.

Delete, Release, or Ignore message:

Delete: If you select a message and click the “Delete” button, the message will be removed from your spam filter.
Release: If you select a message and click the “Release” button, the message will be delivered to your mailbox. Note: The message will be delivered to your mailbox at the time it was sent, not the time it was released. The message will also stay in the message list on the Swiftel mail filter website.
Ignore: If you choose to ignore the message, it will be deleted after 15 days.

Preferences: This will allow you to format settings for your White-list and Black list, along with being able to opt‐in or opt‐out of spam reports.

To White-list/Blacklist an email address or domain:  

1. If you wish to receive email messages from a certain address or domain, there is an option to white-list the address. If you wish to block email messages from a certain address or domain, there is an option to blacklist the address. Once you are logged into Swiftel mail filter, on the left hand side at the top of the page, click on the “Preferences” option.

2. Under the “Anti-spam Management” section, click on the “White…” or “Black…” option.
3. This will open a pop up window that looks like the one below. From here, you can add an email to the White-list or Blacklist by typing the email address (test@swiftel.net) or a domain (swiftel.net) and clicking the “Add” button.
4. You can also remove email addresses and domains from the White-list or Blacklist by selecting the email address or domain you want to remove and clicking the “Remove from Selected” button.

To opt-in or opt-out of spam reports:
To start or stop receiving spam reports, log into Swiftel mail filter. Once you are logged in, on the left hand side at the top of the page, there is a “Preferences” option

Under the “Anti-spam Management” section, there is an option that says “Receive Spam Reports.” Click “On” or “Off,” depending on your preference.

Is IMAP supported? Yes on server imap.swiftel.net (port 143 and 993)

What are the Swiftel DNS Server Settings? Primary: 66.17.96.6 and Secondary: 66.17.99.77

How do I check my Internet speed? Go to https://swiftel.net/speedtest and run a speed test.
