Email Setup Tutorials
Windows Live Mail 2011
- Launch Windows Live Mail by clicking the Start Orb, and then navigate to the location Windows Live Mail.
- Navigate to the Accounts tab on top of the screen and click on email in the new account section.
- In the “Add your email accounts” dialogue box, enter your email address ending in @swiftel.net, your password, and the display name you wish to use. Make sure the “Manually configure server settings” box is checked, and click next.
- For the incoming mail server type, make sure that POP is selected. Then in the server address, type “pop3.brookings.net” and make sure the port number is 110. Then for the outgoing server information, type “ssmtp.brookings.net” in the server address box. Then change the port number to 587. Also make sure that “Requires a secure connection (SSL)” and “Requires authentication” check boxes are checked. Then click next.
- Click Finish. Your email should now be configured to work with Windows Live Mail 2011.

- Junk Tab
- Shows emails that were filtered out as junk.
- Can send messages to inbox by selecting message and clicking on deliver selected.
- Can send messages to trash by selecting message and clicking on delete selected.

- Shows emails that were filtered out because they have some type of virus.
- Recommended that you delete the messages that are shown here.
- Delivered Tab
- Shows the emails that were sent to your inbox from your junk folder.
- Trash Tab
- Shows the emails that were deleted from the junk folder.

- Approve Senders
- Can approve senders by email or domain to by pass junk filter and go straight to your inbox.
- Block Senders
- Can block senders by email or domain to by pass your inbox and go straight to your junk folder.
- Manage Junk Filters
- Here you can set how strict the filters are for your email in the overall junk filters section.
