Celebrate National History Day at the South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum. National History Day (NHD) is a way for students to learn about history and specific issues, people, ideas or events related to history. Students essentially take on the roles of historians, researching and developing a project to present at the NHD competition. Students may submit projects using a traditional research paper, exhibit, performance, website or documentary. This year’s theme is Taking a Stand in History.
National History Day, the nation’s foremost educational program devoted to promoting the study of history through development of research, writing, and critical analytical skills. In many schools, NHD is part of the language arts and social studies programs. NHD’s goals align with SD’s state standards in writing and historical research. The State program is affiliated with the National program.
